Ok got my vacation bids back and now we're full steam planning our trip in the Sept 5th -15th range. Plans are to leave out of Olympia to camp around bend for the first night and the meander our way down. I have a route planned that is about 95% non paved that will get us down to Fields and the Alvord. The route is pretty tame offroad wise as I'm going to be pulling my pop up trailer.
As of right now I have 1 other rig going with me but If anyone is interested I'll create an event. I've had this trip planned for 2 years and last year my trip partner's rig broke down before getting out of Olympia. I didn't feel comfortable dragging my un-tested trailer all by myself through the middle of nowhere so I shelved the trip.
If anyone follows Jason's Primal Outdoors Youtube channel, he visited a spot that I really want to check out now. It's the abandoned Shirk ranch house(middle of freakin nowhere!). Looks creepy and possibly haunted who knows? but man I want to see that place. Who's in?
I am 95% likely going to be in! Super excited. Dropped you a message and hope to connect a bit offline.
Byron, I'm actually going to be taking those days off and was thinking about a trip as well. Do you have more details you can share? Happy to connect !
Change of date. Looks like we are taking off on Sunday the 6th of Sept. I have a great route finalized and some fantastic sites to camp picked out. Still have 1-2 spots available.
So two months from go time and we still have permission to take off. I'm finalizing the route and possible campsites. Only changes are that I will not be bringing my trailer so the pace will be up a bit and the Cowboy dinner tree has changed their operation days and they don't mesh with the days that we will be in that area. We may hit em on the way back, who knows? I can't wait! still have a spot open...
Sounds awesome. We'll be full on with school in September but I'll be watching for an update / trip report. I'm betting the night sky will be amazing.
Benny, how fixed are you on these dates? We might be in Mexico during that timeframe.
