I've seen this rig at the NW Overland Rally, where I took this photo, and it was on a trail-run I led for the Rally one year. Can't remember the owner's name. Don't know much about the rig. But dang, I LIKE this thing!
Oh yes, it handled the obstacles just fine.
Truck has been sold on to the new owner - he flew in and drove it back to the Southwest this March.
FYI Diesel engines are injected not carbeurated and the year he drove it at the rally was his first offroad adventure after buying the truck.
Yeah, Guy. You thinking of the trip from the Rally up to the summit of Mill Creek? We had, I think, 44 people who wanted to make the run. We got to a staging point when we had to split the crew into three separate segments because there just was not enough turn-around room at the top. This rig was in the last of the three groups that I took to the very top. He had a bit of trouble making it up the last steep grade with all the little boulders, I think he stalled out a few times -- maybe altitude and angle and carburetor just didn't act exactly perfectly, but he did make it to the top and it was a wonderful but long day, phew. As I remember the last troop was about 12 vehicles. But it was FUN and everyone enjoyed themselves on a beautiful afternoon. We came back with the same number of folks we left with, so it was a resounding success.
Thanks! It's pretty special.
It was a guy named Joe's...he was trying to sell it last I heard. Don't know if he has yet or not.
