I have 3 spots available in our SE Oregon trip in Sept. Me and a few co-workers are headed down to check out the Steens Mountains and Alvord lake bed. We also planning on checking out areas around Rome, Succor creek and maybe hit some of the Oregon Backcountry Discovery route an the way back up. This will be a pretty fluid trip as we have no real solid plans after the Steens and Alvord just a general idea of stuff to check out and some directions.
Trip is planned for Sept. 7th and we don't have to be back to work until the 14th however looking at 6-7 days. Disclaimer* None of the group that is currently going have been down to this area so it's a true expedition...sort of..
If you are OK with a loose itinerary and a laid back style, then sign up!

I need to get down there one of these years
Been eyeing this for a while now after seeing a photo set of Owyhee Canyon area (hotsprings!). May be heading that way for along weekend in a couple of weeks.
September, huh ?..........Thinking, thinking! MmmmmmHmmmm....... Can be persuaded.
I don't think your Jeep could do it...
You are evil, Benny. EVIL! It's more, I don't think my PTO can do it, so I might have to fix that :-)
Your Jeep has a Power Take Off? :O
Starting to get closer and getting anxious for the trip. I've scoured the internet and found some cool little campsites and places to explore. Still have a spot left.
Will know in a week or so, Benny.
Dan
Hope you can. I mean, your friends sister's 2nd cousin, removed by marriage step dad passed away and you have to go to the wake.....if you need an excuse.
Alright last call! Anyone else down for the trip? I have a couple nice campsites picked out but other than that, is an open game plan.
When you get back would it be possible to get a gps track of your trip? I'm looking to head down to this area for a meteor shower next year.
@Tom, will do.
Tumwater Wa. Pilot truck stop at 8AM Friday the 7th. Plan on hitting the road at 830-9am.
2430 93rd Ave SW, Tumwater, WA 98512
I did not get laid off from work, so it looks like I can't go :-(
I guess that's good news? kinda....
Kinda :-)
So, when it rains it pours. The last rig that was going on the Steens run with me has broken down....Not really feeling going to one of the loneliest spots on earth by myself, I've decided to shelve this run for later. I still plan on camping but just sticking closer to home.
Is anybody up for a 5 day Steens/Alvord trip in 2019 (!) ? Its on my agenda. As is a 5 day trip into central East Idaho... stay tuned.
I'm down just have to know the dates so I can put in my vacation bid by Feb.
