My name I Chris Schenk and have been looking to team up with like minded folks and see some of the most breath taking places this country has to offer.
In 2013 I was thinking back about all the fun I had with a 71 Jeepster I had bought as a totaled wreak when I was a kid so I started looking on Craigs List to see if any were still around. Next thing I new I had 3 all in pieces.
After getting my first on on the road, I took my son for a ride up to Mt Hood, He soon was checking out the ORBCDR and was trip planning. By 2014 I had 2 on the road and did section 4 with him and the following week I did the section 3 to California solo with a rafting buddy as navigator. 2015 my son and I did section 2. Sept 2016 my rafting friend and I ran the whole WABDR again solo. That winter I did a frame off rebuild of the 50 year old body cutting out all the rust and a re paint just in time to make it to the 50th anniversary Jeepster jamboree in April at Moab. Where I met up with about 120 jeepster owners from all over the country and spent a week exploring what Moab had to offer with them.
I could not get enough and was amazed at the capabilities of the old jeep after getting to the Top of the World trail. That October I was back running some of the southern portion of the UTBCDR starting at Mexican Hat. I ended up back in Moab and visiting my friend Danny at Grandpa's garage to repair a front drive shaft. Last year my friend and I were heading back to Moab but that ended when my buddy needed to go to the VA Hospital in Salt Lake and a quick trip home. I hope to meet some of you on the trail this summer.
