Two weeks ago, our community came together and helped gear up my new Jeep and words can’t express my gratitude. I want to do a special call out for someone whose generosity blew my mind. Chris Sherburn, a fellow NWOLander rolled up around 7pm as we were headed over to @Defenders Northwest to place the rails and bumper. As the evening unfolded, he apologized for being so late and shared he had made his way down from BELLINGHAM and got caught in horrific traffic (over 5 hours I believe).
Left to Right: Zach, Dan, Kadar, and Chris
We assumed he had plans down in the area or family/friends he was visiting to make the trip worth the effort. Well, come to find out, his only reason for making that trek was for our wrenching session. Are you kidding me!?!
Then he shared he’d just thrown his sleeping bag and gear in his rig with the plan of trying to find somewhere he could crash for the night because he had to work Sunday evening. Oh, and by the way, he has been working 6+ days a week, 10 to 12 hour days – for weeks and had, in fact, been up and worked since 2am in the morning that very day. We didn’t finish up until 10:30pm that evening and I still can’t believe he hung in there.
We of course, could not just let him find a place to park his car and crash, so we were glad he accepted our invitation to buy him dinner at @Asado in Tacoma and then crash at my place. We woke up and grabbed a bite before he headed for the ferry to get him back up to Bellingham because he had to be up for work again at 2am.
This is why NWOL exists. The people in our community are beyond amazing and fun as hell. Thank you Chris for your willingness to go THE EXTRA MILESSSSSSS… to help a brotha out! You and the rest of the crew are greatly appreciated.
If any of you are looking to be a part of another wrenching session; our buddy Zach is looking for some help next Saturday to gear up his rig. Let’s show him some love and give him a helping hand. You can let him know you’re coming on our Event’s Page.
