Ham Repeater Coverage on the Magruder Corridor?
We are tentatively planning on tying the Magruder Corridor in with a family trip; we would likely be running it East to West on the return from Montana. Someday, I'd really like to do it with a group, possibly a loop one way over the Lolo Motorway and back over Magruder (or the other way around?). I've read some of the NWOL trip reports from the 2019 expedition; I'm sorry we missed it!
But for this year, it's would probably have to be a solo run because of the way it will be tacked on to another trip. One criteria for that would be knowing we can do it safely, including a communication plan. Are any hams in the NWOL community familiar with repeater coverage (or lack thereof) on that route? We might consider HF Winlink or something else, but I'd be more comfortable if I knew ahead of time…
The Beast Gets a Yaesu!
Added the Yaesu 400FTM XDR with APRS to the beast. Just started learning and programming but made the first contact through the Puget Sound repeater...so much more to learn. Very pleased with the install from Truck Gear 4x4 of Silverdale.

New Purchase: Yaesu FTM400 XDR (Antenna?)
Hello community!
Made the decision that the Yaesu FTM 400 XDR will be the best all-round solution for the rig...pulled the trigger today. Do any of you who have this radio (APRS/2m/70cm) have a favorite antenna to consider mounting on the the truck rack?
Still going after the IC-705 for HF and campsite contacts but after the general license is in hand.

@blaino16 great choice with the antenna. I chose the same setup but from Diamond not Comet. No real reason, really. I'm sure they perform similarly.

I have been doing Lots of NVIS using HF 40m or 7.1Mhz to send winlink emails super good for keeping in touch. 109 to about 250 miles day time.
