Join Trip Leader, Scott Sattler, with a detachment of intrepid NWOL adventurers will embark on a 7-10 day overlanding adventure using the Oregon Backcountry Adventure Route (OBDR) as a path down to the remote Alvord Desert and Steens Mountain range in SE Oregon.

About the event
We will meet at a winery in Walla Walla on Friday evening to enjoy a meal and wine tasting together. After camping overnight in the vineyard, the group will head South on OBDR Route 5 with a goal of completing sections #4, #3 and a portion of #2 in four days.
We will then drive through the Malheur Wilderness area and begin exploring The Alvord desert (an expansive dry lake playa), Alvord Hot Springs, Steens Mountain Summit (over 10,000 ft) ,various ghost towns and old ranches. Come prepared for 3-5 days of camping on the desert playa and high up on the steep slopes of Steens Mountain.
As always, a high-clearance 4WD vehicle with recovery points, good quality AT tires with a full sized spare, recovery gear and 5 gallons of extra fuel are required. Capacity to carry at least 10 gallons of water is mandatory for this trip.
