Liberty!

Liberty Washington that is. Just off Hwy 97, near Blewett Pass. Liberty is a place where the 4x4 community and the Wenatchee National Forest personnel worked together to provide some outstanding "Jeep Trails" which are great for a day trip, or a longer stay. The little town of Liberty has no services, and is a semi-ghost town. Some folks live there, but the town is smaller than in bygone mining days. There is some interesting history to the place.

The real attraction for most though, is the network of "Jeep Trails" on each side of the highway. Some are pretty mild, others are very difficult. Typically there is at least one trip to Liberty avail while attending the Northwest Overland Rally.

A favorite of mine is "Hole in the Rock" aptly named for a large rock near the start of the trail, with a large hole in it... Imagine that!

This trail is best done in low range, with the tires aired down a bit, and some careful driving. There's a pinch-point between two trees that prohibits large vehicles, though a current Toyota Tacoma can squeeze through.

Jesse - that is a nice option. Camping at Haney Meadows is very pleasant, with an opportunity to see elk and mule deer. Bring the bug spray! :)
